Curious Nature

(November 2014 Cafe By The Ruins, Baguio)

(December 2014 Cafe By The Ruins Dua , Baguio)

It’s all about delicately rendered paws. Cats confront you with secrets and desires worth bleeding for. With an endless vortex of basic shapes and steamy suggestions, these are snapshots of fleeting infatuations. Under the guise of washing each other’s ears, this is how we exchange nature’s gossip.

Circle Of Fifths: A Homecoming

(September 2013 – Cafe By The Ruins, Baguio)

“It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah.” – Leonard Cohen

Circle Of Fifths was inspired by the artist’s place of birth. It marks a return to unaffected origins, an offering to things inescapable, naive, and constant. It’s about zealous energy and time spent creating loops and halos from an initial vision of realizing the past to connect with the coming times. These works channel dreams and muses, literal and aspired. It is what it is, a revived, slanted world in its purest, joyous form. Every step leads us back to our beginnings, but while our head’s in the clouds and traveling, what else are you taking home?

The Garden: A Collection

(June 2013 – Sweet Exstacy, Cubao Expo)

(August 2013-Last Home, Ortigas, Pasig)

(September 2013 – Sinetology, Nova Gallery, Makati)

THE GARDEN is a metaphor for our own minds. It reveals our thinking in terms of opposites. It seeks to deliver the senses into a plane of consciousness that transcends duality. These works are inspired by the inescapable condition of our nature within humanity and beyond the bounds of society to think in contrast or in twofold. Man & woman, good & evil, true & false, you & I, and so forth. By not seeing the world of solid things but a world of radiance, the exhibit yearns to reflect a romantic value. As a collective, it can be interpreted as a clash of goals, striving to convey reverie and concentration. With conflict as its characters, there is purposeful action in pursuit of classic values. THE GARDEN is inspired by the account of Creation, where Adam and Eve were expelled for disobediently eating from the fruit of the tree of knowledge. It is a dramatized abstraction of the basic pattern of: option, intention, friction, insecurity, struggle, and victory. THE GARDEN is a response to values. It is with a person’s sense of living that one falls in love. This is the artist’s take on loving the profound, the conscious and the subconscious. Recollect the harmony in duality.

Folding 8 [ |fōld|-ing – |āt| ]

noun 1. To reduce, accumulate, aggregate, compress, or inject  a material, idea, or substance, one more than seven. 2. Inspired from the principal teachings of Buddha also known as the Noble Eightfold Path 3. An art junkie’s nest this side of blogosphere.

Folding 8 was conceived and built by  immediate imagination and long hours of bitter scratching. Easing that tingling itch with wicked slyness at the least. The images here are more of a reflex, sometimes the scratches bleed, leaving at times a mark, here, there and more importantly, nowhere. A crusade for odd pleasures nonetheless.

This woolgathering is an attempt to chronicle sensory experiences. It tries to be romantic and mystic, and wants to say murmurs and mumbling whispers, for those who’ll hush and listen.
